Compass Insights

Insights is a new PowerBI-driven app that provides authorized campus users with secure access to student data to support key advising and student success initiatives.

We’re starting with a few key reports for advisors — dashboards supporting early alerts and academic recovery along with GE and University requirements monitoring, with more dashboards being deployed in the coming months.

The dashboard is available to users with the Compass – Advisor role. Request access using the Insights/TLA Access Request Form. Users with questions should email compass@uci.edu.

Advisor Dashboards & Reports

Access is controlled via the Compass – Advisors KSAMS role. To request this role, review the guidelines and fill out an Access Request Form.

Early Alerts Dashboard

Monitor and track early alert notifications to identify students who may need additional support and intervention.

Monitor student progress toward completing General Education requirements with detailed tracking and completion status.

Major GPA

View the major GPA for students. If a student has multiple majors, multiple GPAs are displayed.

Track academic progress and recovery metrics to support students who are working to improve their academic standing.

School Requirements Dashboard

Track progress through the School requirements. Uses DegreeWorks data. Only schools with populated School requirements in degree audits are available.

Academic Administrator Dashboards & Reports

Course Outcome Gap Dashboards

These dashboards visualize outcome gaps across schools and departments over time. The first report, for URM students, is based on research here at UCI published in PLOS ONE: Identifying systemic inequity in higher education and opportunities for improvement.

We have also put together helpful information on how to use the dashboards, read the data, and how the underlying calculations work.
